Navigating the Funding Landscape

One of the most common hurdles to building a resilient microgrid isn’t the technology – it’s the capital. However, for rural stakeholders, farmers, and small business owners, we are currently in a historic window of support for energy independence.

While government programs are subject to changing deadlines and shifting budgets, several key pillars of support often provide the foundation for projects like ours:

The Programs

  1. The USDA Rural Energy for America Program (REAP)

This is perhaps the most significant tool for rural small businesses and agricultural producers. REAP provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding specifically for renewable energy systems and energy efficiency improvements.

  1. Rural Utility & Conservation Programs

For rural electric cooperatives and utilities, the Energy Resource Conservation (ERC) Program offers a pathway to finance renewable energy assets—like solar, wind, or hydro—as part of a larger community microgrid strategy.

  1. Creative State-Level Initiatives

In addition to federal funds, states like Colorado offer specific grants for clean energy and grid resilience.

Navigating these applications can feel like trekking through a trackless forest. Entwise doesn’t just provide the “micro-brains” for your equipment; we serve as a technical partner to help you understand which programs might align with your vision.

The first step is a conversation to determine eligibility. While we cannot guarantee a grant award, we can provide the technical data and system architecture needed to make your application as robust and “shovel-ready” as possible.

Note: Program availability, deadlines, and eligibility requirements vary. We recommend consulting with a grant specialist or the relevant agency representative to confirm current status.
